Commissioned to celebrate the new state of the art football stadium, Ring of Steel will consist of nearly 40,000 portraits printed on to steel panels and installed in a continuous ring spanning the circumference of the stadium’s concourse. The portraits feature a cross section of Milton Keynes society including over 26,000 school children, as well as fans, local public, community groups and local businesses. The mammoth feat of photographing, cropping and producing the panels is well underway with the first phase comprising 5,000 panels installed at the end of September 2009. The remaining phases will be installed in stages over 2009 and 2010.
